Ian is an editing and communications professional, with a specialty in UK and EU public policy communications. Based in Hertfordshire, he has most recently worked
for pan-European media network EurActiv (2011-2018). He is a former Editor of Public Affairs News (2007-2011), a Westminster-based magazine for the UK and EU public affairs industry, and also an
ex-News Editor of PR Week, leading news output when the title was named Business Magazine of the Year in the Haymarket Awards (2007). He was shortlisted at the prestigious British Society of Magazine
Editors (BSME) Awards in 2010.
As well as reporting on countless conferences and events, he has also chaired and moderated them, including fringe events at the UK annual political party conferences. He has appeared as a PR expert
on both the BBC and ITV, written for BBC Online and BBC Teletext (remember that?) and was the brainchild of Westminster's first political tweet-ups (the 'Public Affairs News Tweet-ups').
Ian has an MA in Urban and Regional Change in Europe from Durham University, from which he also has a BA in Economics. Sandwiched between his Durham years he spent 12 months as a journalist in Sofia,
Bulgaria, where he was latterly Assistant Editor of the Sofia Echo.
